Hajimemashite Jess-san! :-) Dozo yoroshiku. No I'm not Japanese, my family's from Pakistan, while I was born and raised in America. But I'm practicing how to speak Japanese. I know a few basic phrases but I'm learning more :-) Japan has a very beautiful culture, it has some similarities with Pakistani culture. Also my name is spelled W-a-"q"-a-s, pronounced "Wha + khaus" lol. I know it doesn't follow English grammar, so its okay if you misspelled it.

^.^ that's really interesting! I haven't studied much Pakistani but culture similarities across nations have always fascinated me.

Ep! sorry about your name, I was thinking to myself "put a q put a q" and but I type too fast sometimes. (tis a band habit)

Will you be taking Japanese next semester?

Its okay if you got it wrong. Happens to me all the time, even with teachers Razz

Yeah technically Pakistan is part of Asia (its next to India) and borders China to the north. Pakistan and China have a very friendly relationship with each other. Knowing some Chinese history, I know that the Japanese where descendants of the Chinese/Koreans that migrated to the Japanese Islands. Though Japan and China sometimes have a less friendly relationship with each other tongue I still equally like the two nations. I would love to visit to Japan, I want to live there :-)

I'm not taking Japanese this coming semester but I would really like to. I'm self-teaching myself with textbooks from the library and such.

That's really cool ^^

Self taught before professional lessons can be really great! I'm taking my first class next semester, but it would have been fun if we were in the same one lol.

Helloooooooooo new comer! : D woot for self teaching *looks at Japanese for Dummies book sitting on my desk* I forgot most of what I taught myself cept for simple phrases. I started learning the characters from one of the other members. Though lately I'm more interested in trying to speak Korean. *needs a book for that*

Thank you very much! A-chan's fine. Ah I'm interested mostly in Japanese, Korean & Taiwanese cultures. Japan was first though for me.
